About Bill Waltenbaugh
With over 30 years of valuation experience, Bill Waltenbaugh is a certified residential appraiser in Ohio, Kentucky, New York, Virginia, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
Bill’s early real estate years began while attending Anderson University and working as a Zoning Administrator for the City of Anderson, Indiana. Here, he became familiar with and interested in residential valuation by assisting local appraisers with specific zoning questions and concerns.
After graduation, Bill moved to Hamilton, Ohio, and began his appraisal career at Durbin & Associates. During these years, Bill witnessed and experienced firsthand the many changes that have significantly reshaped the appraisal landscape – from the advent of appraiser licensing in the early ’90s to the more recent Dodd-Frank Reform Act.
In 2010, Bill took a position as Chief Appraiser for a national Appraisal Management Company (AMC) in San Diego, CA. As Chief Appraiser, Bill created, implemented, and maintained a quality control process to produce high-quality appraisal reports.
In mid-2011, Bill moved to Buffalo, NY, and teamed up with Kirchmeyer & Associates, Inc. as their Chief Appraiser. In addition to overseeing the QC process, Bill was also responsible for monitoring all 50 states, completing the AMC registration process for licensing, and implementing all the policies and procedures necessary for industry compliance.
After an acquisition, Bill joined forces with Solidifi US Inc as Director of Compliance. As Director of Compliance, Bill worked closely with the Chief Valuation Officer and the Director of Quality Control to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.
In 2014 Bill took a position as the Chief Appraiser with AXIS Appraisal Management Solutions. At AXIS, Bill leveraged his years of experience as a Chief Appraiser and Director of Compliance to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of Quality Control, Vendor Management, and Regulatory Compliance.
In 2017 Bill joined ranks with Clarocity Valuation Solutions (CVS) as their Chief Appraiser. Clarocity (now Voxtur Valuation) is an industry leader in developing and implementing next-generation alternative valuation products. While at Clarocity, Bill was integral to new product development and promoting industry acceptance through training and education.
Today, Bill is the Chief Appraiser at Finance of America, Commercial (FACo). Since joining FACo in 2021, Bill has overseen the Collateral Department, which is responsible for valuation engagement, pipeline management, approval of all delivered assignments, and implementing an industry-compliant revision/reconsideration of value (ROV) process. In addition, Bill manages all valuation-related third-party vendors, including panel selection, performance monitoring, and market share distribution.
Bill is an SRA and AI-RRS designated member of the Appraisal Institute and keeps up to date with industry changes through the Collateral Risk Network (CRN). Bill regularly writes and shares his opinion on current events in industry-recognized publications and periodically presents current hot topics at local and national education events and conferences.
